About us
Marka is the UK's first standardised hospitality sustainability rating, enabling customers to choose venues based on their sustainability and allowing venues to showcase their level of sustainability to customers.
Environmentally aware

Environmentally aware

Marka promotes sustainable practices in hospitality, ensuring bars, clubs, cafes, restaurants and other venues can operate sustainably. With the objective of making concepts of sustainability more accessible to typically disenfranchised demographics of people via the medium of hospitality, culture and music.

Championing inclusivity

Championing inclusivity

Marka prioritise inclusivity within its sustainable action plans, with the goal of creating a vibrant and dynamic hospitality industry where people of all different cultures, genders, races and sexualities can share experiences together. Hospitality has the social responsibility and power to shape social attitudes so we ensure that all venues that we work with must be socially equitable and provide an inclusive environment for there staff and customers.

Community

Community

Marka wants to build a community network with all its partners that provides an organic environment for sustainability to grow that directly involves customers. Forging a collaborative customer culture within hospitality, with the hope of instilling a wide-scale positive social change in the public's relationships with bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants. Progressing the hospitality industry so that it can function more cohesively, sustainably and economically effectively with the consumer.

Committed to culture

Committed to culture

Local art and music are a key component of social and cultural sustainability. Ensuring that artists have a place to showcase their talent breeds a culture of innovation and social progression. Unlike other organisations, Marka’s action plans heavily focus
on how hospitality can become more socially and culturally progressive as well as socially and environmentally sustainable.

Inclusivity and diversity

Inclusivity and diversity

Inclusivity and Diversity are hugely important to us. The beauty of hospitality is its ability to bring people together. Marka represents a wide range of social and cultural factors contributing to sustainability. Ensuring all our partners provide an inclusive environment for both staff and customers. We will not partner with organisations and clients who do not or are not willing to implement these.

Our pledges

We believe it's the job of every business to play a part in creating a long-term sustainable society. By pledging a long-term commitment to the
UN sustainable development goals we hope to set a precedent of sustainability and inclusivity within the hospitality industry within the UK.

Sustainable cities and communities

Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities

Marka sees itself as a key part of local communities. Facilitating venues in creating culturally and socially sustainable environments, safe from prejudice. We believe that sustainable, people-focused, policy is one of the pillar stones in creating and upholding a thriving and diverse community.

Responisible consumption and production

Goal 12: Responisible consumption and production

Marka's framework focuses on refining hospitality businesses' supply chains and outputs. Implementing changes such as sourcing from local suppliers to reduce road and air miles, limiting water and electricity usage where possible and using products that have a lower environmental impact.

Climate Action

Goal 13: Climate Action

Marka ensures organisations take steps to reduce their carbon emissions and resource usage. Whilst making a long-term commitment as an organisation to support local carbon offsetting and carbon-positive schemes.
